We're Sara and Rich Combs, designers living between the Mojave Desert of Joshua Tree, CA and the Sonoran desert in Tucson, AZ. We're passionate about designing spaces that are daily reminders to slow down and stay present. The high desert is a place where the sun guides our day, and wild animals are our neighbors. Indoor and outdoor space begin to blend together as we bring our favorite pieces outside, and our favorite plants and rocks in.
The Joshua Tree House began in 2015 while we were living in a city and found ourselves craving a creative space to reset out in nature. When we opened that original house up for others to stay we found that we were not the only ones who were craving a place like this. It booked up so much that we were no longer able to go ourselves... and it got us thinking. Often as we’ve traveled we found that we had to sacrifice either design or nature in our accommodations, so we set out to create spaces that celebrate both. We currently host guests in individual homes in Joshua Tree, California near Joshua Tree National Park and at our small inn in Tucson, Arizona bordering Saguaro National Park.
